IMPACT AREA

80,000 cars and buses will have to find alternate routes in and out of downtown everyday

Hardest hit by extensive Spur shutdowns will be neighborhoods in and around the Richmond / West Alabama corridor, an area bounded by Richmond and West Alabama, from downtown to Weslayan.

Spur construction traffic overflowing from this congested “ground zero” will spread across a much broader area, affecting neighborhoods within a two mile radius and beyond.

Commuters will also be hard hit by traffic diversions extending drive times in and out of downtown. City traffic engineers predict virtual gridlock situations on neighborhood streets during peak hours expected to last six hours per day.
